With the Minecraft 1.21 update comes a new heavy-hitting weapon: the Mace. Found in Trial Chambers, it’s not just a weapon—it’s a tool for tactical domination. The farther you fall before landing a hit, the more damage you deal. Think of it as your go-to option for creative combat and high-ground advantage!

To craft a Mace, you’ll need to track down two special components hidden in the depths of the Trial Chambers:

Heavy Core: Found in Trial Chamber loot chests. Drop chance: 12–15%

Breeze Rod: Dropped by Breeze mobs inside Trial Chambers. Drop chance: 20% (base), up to 30% with Looting III

Once you have both, craft your Mace at a Smithing Table and get ready to smash!

Step 1: Place a Cartography Table near an unemployed villager with a bed—they’ll become a Cartographer.

Step 2: Trade with them to get a Trial Explorer Map, which guides you to Trial Chambers.

Tip: Cartography Tables naturally generate in villages, so be sure to look around before crafting one yourself.

The Mace comes with three powerful and exclusive enchantments to boost your gameplay:

Density: Adds +0.5 extra damage per block fallen per level (Max Level: 5)

Breach: Ignores 15% of armor protection per level (Max Level: 4)

Wind Burst: Launches the user into the air by 7 blocks per level after a smash (Max Level: 3, only found in ominous vaults)

Repairing your Mace with an anvil is simple:

Place the damaged Mace in the first slot

Place a Breeze Rod in the second slot

The repaired Mace will appear in the third slot

Mastering the Mace means taking full advantage of vertical combat:

Jump from high places and strike while falling to deal massive damage—no fall damage taken!

Combine Wind Charges in your off-hand with the Mace in your main hand. Right-click to launch yourself and prepare for a devastating smash on the way down.
